OlganosDry Red Wine – PGI Macedonia

This wine was named after “Olganos”, a river worshiped as a god in ancient times, that flows from the foothills of Mount Vermio.

A blend of Xinomavro and Merlot varieties. Nikos Foundis chose semi-mountainous vineyards, with suitable microclimate for the cultivation of these varieties and thus created the ‘Cuvée Olganos’.

The two varieties are vinified separately and blended before aging in French oak barrels. The result is a worthy aged wine, harmoniously combining Xinomavro’s sturdy character with the soft finesse and rich colour of Merlot.

Special characteristics: Deep red colour with aromas of red fruit, fresh wood and spices.

The wine’s bouquet further develops while bottle-aging. A smooth, full-bodied wine with a long finish and a potential for further aging.

Serving suggestions: Grilled meats, beef with red sauces and spiced dishes.
Specific suggestion: Beef with mushroom sauce.
Best served at 16-18°C.
